The Crocodile Fern takes its name from the pronounced texture of its fronds. Raised veins create a pattern reminiscent of crocodile skin, turning the surface of the leaf into the plant's defining feature.

Ferns represent one of the oldest major groups of vascular plants. They existed long before flowering plants dominated terrestrial ecosystems and reproduce through spores rather than flowers and seeds.

For a contemporary interior, that botanical history becomes part of its character.

Care

• Light: Bright, filtered or indirect light.
• Direct sun: Avoid strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the fronds.
• Water: Keep the growing medium consistently moist, but never saturated.
• Humidity: High humidity is beneficial. A humidifier or humid location can help in dry interiors.
• Temperature: Keep warm and protect from cold draughts.
• Water quality: If possible, use filtered or rainwater when leaf-tip browning occurs.
• Feeding: Use a diluted balanced houseplant fertiliser during active growth.
• Repotting: Repot only when the root system has substantially filled the container.
